The Cottage Industry Miniaturists Trade Association, Inc. (CIMTA, Inc.) is a not-for-profit organization run partially by volunteers whose regular membership is limited to handcrafters of dollhouse miniatures. Regular members of CIMTA, Inc. are "cottage industries", that is, small businesses operated by an individual or group of individuals. CIMTA, Inc.'s goal is to present programs that deal with the unique problems facing the handcrafter of miniatures within the miniature industry. Through the use of trade shows, supporting member activities, public relations work with collectors, and hobbyists for the assistance of the Retailer, educational seminars, newsletters, advertising and other methods, CIMTA, Inc. hopes to grow and maintain a healthy miniatures industry. CIMTA, Inc.
consists of 175 professional handcrafters who create miniature reproductions
for collectors of dollhouses, miniatures, gifts, crafts, and scale
models. The organization has established a marketplace, which enables
handcrafters to sell products at wholesale prices, and for retailers
to discover quality handcrafted work. CIMTA, Inc. members are recognized
as professionals who put a great deal of artistic talent and creativity
in their work. Their products are recognized worldwide for their quality,
their popularity with collectors, and their abundance of variety of
style and unique designs. The majority of the products are crafted
in one-inch scale, but other scales such as one-half inch and one-quarter
inch are also available. The work of CIMTA, Inc. members can be found
in thousands of miniature dollhouses and on knick-knack shelves throughout
the world. CIMTA's West Coast Wholesale Trade Show will be held at The Orleans Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, NV., in January.
